LG on
Wednesday announced the launch of two smartphones in latest flagship range - LG
G7 ThinQ and LG G7+ ThinQ - at an event held in New York. Key highlights of the
handset include Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, wireless charging support, MIL-STD
810G compliance with IP68 certification, and face recognition. In terms of
audio, the LG G7 ThinQ series comes with a Boombox speaker and Hi-Fi Quad DAC.
It also borrows AI Camera features from the recently launched variant, the LG
V30S ThinQ. As with most LG launches, the LG G7 ThinQ price will be announced
locally closer to availability.
LG G7 ThinQ availability
LG G7 ThinQ will initially arrive in South Korea, followed by
availability in major markets in Asia, North America, Europe, and Latin America
in the coming days. The G7 ThinQ will be sold in New Platinum Grey, New Aurora
Black, New Moroccan Blue, and Raspberry Rose colour variants.
LG G7 ThinQ features
As
previously rumoured, the LG G7 ThinQ sports an extra physical button - under
the volume control - to activate Google Assistant with one tap and Google Lens
with two. Holding down the button will allow for instant conversations with
Google Assistant. The phone also sports Super Far Field Voice Recognition that
allows it to hear commands for Google Assistant for up to 5 metres away. LG G7
ThinQ is claimed to be the first smartphone to offer DTS:X that implements
virtual 3D sound for all content.
LG also says
it enhanced the AI CAM features that debuted with LG V30S ThinQ, and now offers
19 shooting modes for more intelligence-optimised photos, and three effect
presets. Low-light photography is also improved, and the rear camera supports
Bokeh effects and a Live Photo mode as well.

The LG G7
ThinQ is the successor to the powerful LG G6 and is a flagship offering from
the South Korea-based smartphone manufacturer. The device ships with
power-packed features that make it stand out in the existing smartphone market.
Although the LG G7 ThinQ hasn't been altered much in terms of design, the
smartphone sports a full metal body with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. The
LG G7 ThinQ owing to the metal unibody design and sleek looks oozes a premium
feel.
It runs the
LG Optimus UX 7.0 UI wrapped under the Android 8.0 operating system
out of the box.
Display and Performance
On top, sits
a 6.10-inch QHD AMOLED display which is great even when placed under bright
sunlight. The AMOLED screen is coupled with excellent viewing angles which make
gaming and watching videos more delightful. The screen also comes with
Corning's Gorilla Glass protection that protects the screen against minor
scratches.

ThinQ is designed to ensure a smooth and lag-free smartphone experience as it
is armed with a 2.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset and 4GB of RAM. You can
also work on multiple apps at the same time without affecting the performance
of the smartphone.
Camera and Connectivity

ThinQ ships with a dual 16+16-megapixel rear camera which comes with a dual-LED
flash that helps in capturing images and shooting videos even when the lighting
conditions are not favourable for photography. On the front, the smartphone is
equipped with an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter which aids video calling and
simultaneously can also be used for selfies.

ThinQ is bundled with all the standard connectivity options which include 4G,
Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, dual SIM support, NFC, and a
microUSB Type-C reversible port.
Battery and Storage
LG has upped
the battery capacity in the LG G7 ThinQ; the device is fuelled by a
non-removable Li-Ion 3,000mAh cell which can easily keep the device functioning
for an entire day. If that does not sound enough, there is support for fast
charging that can recharge the battery on the device in a jiffy.
For storing
personal files and installing apps, there is 64GB of onboard storage space
which can be expanded further up to 256GB via a microSD card.
