Japanese smartphone manufacturer Sharp has launched a new premium smartphone - Sharp Aquos R2 - in its home market. It is the successor to the Aquos R, the flagship smartphone that was launched last year. While the previous version was among the first few smartphones to launch with the Snapdragon 835 processor, the highlight of the Aquos R2 is the Snapdragon 845 SoC. It also has another interesting feature - a dedicated video recording camera. Notably, the smartphone has currently only been launched in Japan, and pricing has not been revealed, nor has availability in other international markets. This smartphone is IPX5/ IPX8/ IP6X certified for dust and water resistance, and boasts of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for a richer multimedia experience.

Sharp Aquos R2 pricing is not revealed yet now but it can be expected to be above Rs. 25000. Sharp Aquos R2 is due to be launched in May, 2018.
Sharp Aquos R2 Details
Sharp Aquos R2 is the company's latest pro phone offering that a dedicated camera for video. The device ships with the facial recognition feature using which you can unlock the smartphone by just looking at the screen. There isn't any fingerprint scanner on the handset, and the alternative way to unlock the device is by entering a password.
At its heart, the Sharp Aquos R2 is armed with a octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC and 4GB of RAM that ensures smooth performance.
Connectivity and Platform
Connectivity options that you get along with the Sharp Aquos R2 include 4G with VoLTE, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and a microUSB 2.0 port. Also, users get dual SIM support.
On the software front, the smartphone runs the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box.
Storage and Camera
For shutterbugs, the Sharp Aquos R2 hosts a 16.3-megapixel front-facing shooter to aid selfies and video calling. At the back, the smartphone comes with an 22.6+16.3-megapixel rear shooter which along with an LED flash that helps low-light videos and shots. The 16.3 MP camera is a dedicated camera for video recording.
In terms of storage, the smartphone is loaded with 64GB internal storage space which can further be expanded using a microSD card up to 400GB. One good thing about the smartphone is that the device has a dedicated memory expansion slot.
Battery and Display
Sharp Aquos R2 is fuelled by a non removable Li-Ion 3,130mAh battery which can offer talk time up to 2 days.
On top, the handset flaunts a 6-inch HD display which is ideal for any first-time smartphone users. The device offers decent legibility in both indoor and outdoor conditions.
